Jorge Mata (La Habana, 1970)

Jorge Mata represents within contemporary art those subjects who, formed in a reality, in this case the Cuban reality, are forced to abandon it and create their pieces in other landscapes. Individuals who move from the public to the private landscape, within a multiple poetic, transcultural and heterodox, with the continuity of a tenuous, but persistent line, which maintains the fixity of the own experience. They are the obsessions, fantasies, ventures and misfortunes of a private knowledge, which has as its common denominator the fact of inhabiting an unknown and desert landscape in the open air of the world.
