Dayron González (La Habana, 1982)

We find a painter who likes the tension created on the surface of the painting –with his brushes he pushes and pulls the pigment, achieving effects ranging from subtlety to violence–. His pictorial strategies show an artist who has intelligently absorbed the stain and stream of abstract expressionism; but these in his paintings are ways of capturing a blurred, changing, decadent reality. His drawing is rigorous and not at all mechanical; know the figure with its complex structure and joints.
